Distance Medley Relay Record Falls as Bison Compete at Pitt State

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Carson Kardokus, Sean Dixon, Emmett Murphy, and Maxamillian Wheeler headlined OBU's efforts at the 9th Annual Indoor Gorilla Classic as the quartet broke the 12-year-old Bison Distance Medley Relay record.

They finished the event in an NCAA Provisional time of 9:52.10, good for fifth place. It is the 20th fastest time in the nation. The previous record of 9:56.52 was set by Jory Custar, Justin Frye, Cody Camacho, and Adam Godwin in 2012.

In the 4x400 relay, OBU ran a season-best 3:15.33. The time earned Dixon, Jentezen Smith, Marcus Petersen, and Murphy a sixth-place finish.

Maxamillian Wheeler clocked a personal-best 4:09.28 in the mile, which placed 10th and met the DII provisional standard. Trailing in 16th was Kardokus at a personal-best 4:12.50.

Jentezen Smith charted a PR of 1:13.16 in the 600-yard run for sixth place, while Nathan Goodson placed seventh in the high jump (1.85m, 6-0.75).
