PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Oklahoma Baptist men's track and field team turned in multiple personal bests and one NCAA provisional mark at Saturday's Wendy's/Pittsburg State Invitational.
Sophomore Emmett Murphy nearly broke the OBU 600-yard record with a personal-best time of 1:11.74 that finished third. The record time of 1:11.68 was set in 2021 by Zachary Coak.
Maxamillian Wheeler placed fourth in the mile run with a personal-best 4:10.94. Wheeler has posted a personal best time in every indoor meet this season. Trailing in 10th place was James Williams, with a time of 4:18.41.
Emery Crayton ran a 15:07.55 in the 5000m, good for seventh, while Carson Kardokus placed 15th (1:55.38) in the 800m.
The 4x400 relay team of Sean Dixon, Jentezen Smith, Marcus Petersen, and Murphy earned an NCAA DII provisional mark with a time of 3:15.72. The squad finished sixth overall.
In the field events, Isaiah Willis placed fifth in the long jump after a leap of 7.26m (23-10). Alexander Schovanec finished sixth in the shot put with a heave of 15.75m (51-8.25).
