RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the Oklahoma Baptist women's golf team as the recipient of the league's 2022-23 team sportsmanship award, voted on by GAC coaches.
It is the second consecutive season the team has garnered the recognition and the third time any OBU program has collected the accolade.
"I'm very proud of the work these young ladies have put in on and off the golf course," said OBU head coach Mike Manlapig. "They always go the extra mile to exhibit good sportsmanship to their opponents."
The conference announced 15 award winners. Ouachita Baptist paced the way with four sportsmanship awards, while Harding hauled in three. East Central, Northwestern Oklahoma State and Southwestern Oklahoma State each collected two awards, while Fort Hays State rounded out the bunch with one.
"These awards emphasize the NCAA Division II focus on sportsmanship and game environment," GAC Commissioner Will Prewitt said. "We could not be prouder of what these programs have put forth on the field and in ways that aren't necessarily reflected in the outcome."
