ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Marta Romero Crespo and
Morgan Simmons each tied for 42nd place to lead the Oklahoma Baptist women's golf team at the Regional Preview at the St. Joseph Country Club the past two days.
The Bison wound up in a tie for 14th place (+80) with Missouri Western by the end of the two-day tournament.
GAC rival Southwestern Oklahoma State won the overall team title while Harding and Central Oklahoma finished in second and third, respectively.
Crespo shot 10-over par (82) in each round while Simmons went plus-15 and plus-5 over the first and second rounds, respectively. Simmons' second-round performance was the best by a Bison over the course of the meet. The Memphis, Tenn., native posted 12 pars and a birdie during Tuesday's round.
OBU's third-top finisher was
Ines Diaz. Her best effort came over the final nine holes on Tuesday in which she pared eight of those. By the end, Dias came in a tie for 50th place (+21).
Emilee Pierce and
Priscilla Gant rounded out the green and gold's scoring efforts. For Pierce, she had the most birdies (6) of any Bison player, including five in the opening round. By tournament's end, the Lexington, Okla., native finished in a tie for 64th.
As for Gant, a freshman, she placed in a tie for 85th.
Next week, the Bison will close out their fall schedule with the 2025 Tulsa Cup at the Forest Ridge Golf Club in Claremore on Oct. 27-28.
