ENID – Oklahoma Baptist's
Ines Diaz finished in sixth during Northwestern's ABC Supply Invitational at Meadowlake Golf Club.
As a team, the Bison finished in third overall (+68) behind the host Lady Rangers (+55) and Southeastern (+58).
During the first round, Diaz finished plus-nine (80). Her back-nine performance was solid though, as she pared six of nine. Then in round two, Diaz improved by shooting a five-over 76. That included pars on nine of the last 12.
Freshman
Priscilla Gant followed in seventh place for OBU. In the first round, she was plus-six (42) through nine before turning in an even-par 35 on the back nine. That helped Gant shoot six-over (77). Second-round efforts were a bit tougher, though, as Gant shot 80 (+9).
OBU's final top-10 performer was
Morgan Simmons. The Memphis, Tenn., native fired a plus-14 in the opening round before drastically improving in round two. Simmons was five-over (76) during the second round which included a pair of birdies and 10 pars.
Rounding out the team's efforts,
Emilee Pierce earned an 11th-place finish (+20; 162) while
Paisley Eason took 24th (+35). For Pierce, her three birdies in round one were the most of any Bison player in any of the two rounds.
Next on the schedule for the Bison is the Central Spring Preview hosted by Central Missouri on April 5-7 at the Shangri-La Resort in Monkey Island, Okla.
