WICHITA, Kan. – The Oklahoma Baptist men's 4x400 relay team took top honors at the KT Woodman Classic to highlight OBU's Track and Field action in Kansas this weekend.
The quartet of Marcus Petersen, Jentezen Smith, Emmett Murphy, and Isaiah Willis ran a 3:15.91 relay, the second fast time of the season.
In the 4x100, Brendan Sanders, Smith, Petersen, and Willis ran a season-best time of 41.70 to finish third.
Smith led the individual track event finishes, placing sixth in the 400m hurdles with a personal best time of 53.96. Placing a few slots behind at 10th was sophomore Aaryn Anderson, who ran a personal best time of 55.33.
Anderson turned around to chart another top-10 mark in the 110m hurdles, clocking a 14.70 for sixth overall. Maurice McMullen and Smith followed behind in eighth (14.73) and ninth (14.91).
In the 400m, Petersen earned a personal best time of 48.34, good for seventh. Blake Cope rounded out the running notables with a career-best time of 9:47.90 in the 3000m steeplechase that placed ninth.
Alexander Schovanec and Matthew Higdon collected the only NCAA DII qualifying marks for the Bison with seventh and fifth-place finishes in their events. Schovanec posted a season-best heave of 51.24m (168-1) in the discus, while Higdon recorded a 57.26m (187-10) hurl in the hammer throw.
Schovanec also took third in the shot put with a mark of 15.25m (50-0.5).
Lastly, Trey Bartholomew and Jonathan Elix recorded matching clearances of 2.01m (6-7) in the high jump that finished fourth.
The Bison are back on the track Wednesday, April 12th for the start of Azusa Pacific's Bryan Clay Invitational in California.
