NORMAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma Baptist women's track and field team recorded 14 top-five finishes at the John Jacobs Invitational this weekend, with two Bison taking home top honors.
To kick the day off, Kendalyn Stueve secured sixth place in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.37m (11-0.75). Jamora Horace earned a couple of top-five finishes, claiming fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 10.84m (35-6.75) before clearing 1.53m (5-0.25) to place fourth in the high jump.
In the 4x100, the relay team of Anisha Henderson, Olivia Tate, Tahlor Brown and Mary McKey finished second after clocking a 47.14. Following closely behind in third was the "B" squad of Elisabeth Jones, Stueve, Delaney Riekert, and Kyndall Hicks, who crossed in 49.64.
Sophia Strange's 4:45.63 time in the 1500m resulted in a second-place finish, while Jones placed fifth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.65.
Kayla McGruder won the 5000m with a time of 18:07.50, while teammate Olivia Lynch placed moments late in third at 18:15.42.
Jade Byrd and Flora Dupans gained two of the three NCAA DII qualifying marks for the Bison with fifth and seventh-place finishes in the discus. Byrd charted a heave of 49.93m (163-10), while Dupans recorded a hurl of 48.06m (157-8).
The final Bison to earn a DII provisional time was McKey in the 400m hurdles after she won the event with a time of 1:01.67. Joining the leaderboard was Brown, who finished second in 1:03.26, and Jones, who placed fourth in 1:03.62.
Closing the day, the 4x400 relay "A" team (Brown, Kimberly McKinney, Tate, and McKey) placed third after running a 3:55.19. Shortly behind was OBU's "B" (Zoee Weaver, Kaylen King, Riekert, and Jones) squad that recorded the fourth-best time at 3:55.81.
The Bison are back on the track Wednesday, April 26, competing at Drake Univesity in Des Moines, Iowa.
