RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Sophomore golfer Morgan Becker was named the Great American Conference Golfer of the Week for the second time this season after a stellar performance at the Grace Shin Invitational this week.
Becker has picked up the league's weekly honor five times in her career, including three nods last season.
The Southlake, Texas native placed in a tie for sixth among 90 participants with a 36-hole 145 (+3), her third top-10 finish in four tournaments. As a freshman, she earned a top-10 finish in five tournaments, a feat she can accomplish again with seven guaranteed events remaining this season.
Becker opened tournament play with a 2-over 73 to tie for 10th going into Tuesday's final round. She sunk a career-best five birdies, the most of any participant through the first 18 holes. Additionally, she tied for the best stroke average on Par 3s (2.60) and Par 5s (4.50).
On Tuesday, Becker turned it up a notch with a 1-over 72, tallying her fourth 1-over-par round this season. She shot four spots up the leaderboard after a run that featured four birdies, a part of her tournament-best total of nine, and a 2-under-par card on the back nine.
She was a stroke shy of tying her season-best score of 2-over-par, achieved at the Central Region Preview on Sep. 6.
Becker and company will wrap up their fall slate on Oct. 23-24 at the 2023 Tulsa Cup in Broken Arrow, Okla.
