BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – The Oklahoma Baptist women's golf team claimed an eighth-place finish at Rogers State's Tulsa Cup after three rounds of golf in Broken Arrow.
OBU shot 42-over-par on the final 18 holes to complete a three-round card of 946 (+82). On Monday, the Bison posted scores of 310 and 306 to open tournament play.
Central Missouri beat the 19-team field by 26 strokes, finishing 9-over-par for the event, while Southwestern Oklahoma State trailed in second at 35-over par.
Morgan Becker fired 8-over-par today to place 12th out of 102 participants. Through the opening 18 holes, Becker shot two strokes over par, recording rounds of 74 and 72 before wrapping up her tour.
Becker sunk the most birdies (6) on the team, highlighted by four on her second trip around the course. Then today, she notched an eagle en route to a 1-over finish on the front nine.
Freshmen Morgan Simmons and Gimena Errecart tied for 48th after shooting one stroke of one another today. Simmons fired an 82 (+10), while Errecart carded an 11-over 83.
Simmons shot a tie of the third-best round on the squad on Monday, a 3-over 75 that featured a couple of birdies and a 1-under finish through the front nine.
Up next was Josefina Serres Scheffer in a tie for 64th. She finished 27 strokes over par after rounds of 83-75-85. Sam Lehr claimed a tie of 80th after a 16-over-par round today. Lehr also sunk four birdies, a tie of the second-most for the Bison.
Wrapping up the OBU lineup was Ramsey Gunter, who climbed six spots with her lowest round of the event. Gunter fired nine strokes over par (85) on Tuesday after recording rounds of 93 and 85 yesterday. She put in one birdie and finished even par on the front nine, the best of any Bison.
Oklahoma Baptist will return to the links in the spring to complete its 2023-24 season. The next tournament will be UCO's Southern Invite on Feb. 19 in Spring, Texas.
