Hearn Nominated for Roberto Clemente Award

SHAWNEE – Former Oklahoma Baptist pitcher and current Texas Rangers player Taylor Hearn has been nominated by his team for the prestigious Roberto Clemente Award.

The honor is bestowed annually to the player who best represents the game of baseball through extraordinary character, community involvement, philanthropy and positive contributions, both on and off the field.

Here are just a few of the ways Hearn has supported his community and those abroad:

Sponsored a baseball team in Tema, Ghana, promoting the sport of baseball in Africa by sending equipment, t-shirts and monetary sponsorship.

Participated in the Texas Rangers annual winter caravan and children's hospital visits each year.
