SHAWNEE – OBU Baseball sees five Bison on the CSC Academic All-District list.
Oklahoma Baptist Baseball saw five members of the green and gold earn a spot amongst the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.
Zane Bennett,
Matt Marsic,
Bryant Thornton,
David Stuart and
Jesse Tisdell each etched their name amongst other academic honorees.
To qualify, a student-athlete had to have a 3.50 grade point average or higher, been of sophomore standing and have legitimate playing credentials.
Bennett is a junior from Petaluma, California, pursuing a degree in Mass Communication. He completed the season with a .313 batting average, totaling 12 homeruns, 50 RBI, 50 hits and 33 runs scored. #12 for the Bison finished the season with a .581 slugging percentage, 93 total bases and a .395 on-base mark.
Thornton is a senior from San Anselmo, California, earning his degree in Exercise Science. #8 for the Bison totaled a 5.66 ERA with a 1.59 WHIP. Thornton finished the season with a 4-4 record on the bump, totaling 45 strikeouts across 47.2 innings on the mound. Thornton closed out the season, holding opponents to a .261 batting average.
Tisdell is a Mechanical Engineering major from Choctaw, Oklahoma, completing his junior season. #14 for OBU wrapped up the season with four homers, eight stolen bases in nine attempts, and a .385 on-base percentage. Tisdell ended the campaign with 35 hits, 20 RBI and 42 runs scored.
Stuart is a senior Business major from Lawrence, Kansas. #18 for OBU finished with a 5.25 ERA and a 1.56 WHIP. Stuart secured the most wins amongst the Bison staff with a 6-5 record, compiling 63 strikeouts across 73.2 innings pitched. The senior for OBU finished with an opponent batting average of .277.
Marsic is a Sports and Recreation major, with an emphasis in athletic coaching, from Arlington, Texas, wrapping up his junior year at OBU. #4 for the green and gold finished with a .402 on- base percentage, 25 RBI, four triples to lead the Bison, 11 doubles, 49 hits and 41 runs scored.
