SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist's
DJ Van Atten was named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-Central Region Team on Tuesday.
The senior from Latta was selected as one of two designated hitters who earned second team recognition.
During the spring, Vat Atten, who was also an All-GAC Second Team member, had a strong year in the batter's box. He totaled 15 doubles, the third-best mark in the Great American Conference, and ranked ninth with 47 runs batted in.
He also posted the eighth-best on-base percentage (.479) and was slotted 10th in slugging (.625).
Among his season highlights, Van Atten posted a 14-game hitting streak between Feb. 1 and Feb. 28. During that streak there was a 5-for-5 performance with four RBI against Metropolitan State – Denver as well as a three-hit, five-RBI effort versus Arkansas-Monticello on Feb. 24.
By season's end, he had a team-high 60 hits, 10 homers and was one of five Bison to register at least 40 runs scored.
