SHAWNEE – Bison Baseball earns ABCA Academic Award for the 2024-2025 season.
The American Baseball Coaches Association awarded OBU Baseball with the ABCA Academic Award for the '24-'25 season.
''I am extremely proud of this group for the standard they held in the classroom. They understand that the classroom comes first and the work ethic instilled there translates to all aspects of their lives'', stated Head Coach
Chris Cox.
The green and gold were amongst several hundred teams to achieve a minimum GPA of 3.00 on a 4.0 scale during the 2024-25 academic year. This season, Bison Baseball finished with a 3.380 GPA.
''It is no easy task to achieve the level they did in the classroom. These athletes balance the classroom, baseball and for a lot of them, jobs as well. It speaks to their character and their drive to be successful in all areas'', added Cox.
Earlier this summer, five players achieved individual academic awards from the College Sports Communicators (CSC).
David Stuart,
Matt Marsic,
Zane Bennett, Bryant Thorton, and
Jesse Tisdell all achieved CSC Academic All-District honors.
