CATOOSA, Okla. – Freshman Morgan Becker led an Oklahoma Baptist squad of eight to an eighth-place finish at the NSU Golf Classic on Tuesday evening. The Bison cut their strokes by four in the final round of play, posting a 312 (+32) after charting a 316 on Monday.
Becker shot eight-over 72 to tie 19th overall, earning her first top-20 finish with the green and gold. Becker sunk one birdie and made par on nine holes today. Additionally, she led the team in stroke average (3.20) on par 3s for the tournament.
Hayden Meiser climbed three spots to tie at 21st overall, posting a matching 77 (+7) from Monday. In her first outing of the 2022-23 season, Meiser tallied four birdies, including three on the back nine today, and led OBU in stroke average (4.20) on Par 4s. Furthermore, Meiser shot a team-best three strokes under par on the back nine.
Karlee Holcomb and Josie Patterson cut their strokes by three and four in the closing round. Holcomb's 78 (+8) finished in a tie for 36th, while Patterson's 79 (+9) landed in a tie for 38th.
Valentina Nunez-Butzonitch shot an 85 (+15) to T53, while Lindyn Ross' second-round 81 rose her 12 spots to a 64th place finish. Sam Lehr followed in a tie for 65th after shooting 94 (+24).
Rylie Spaulding concluded the Bison in action with a 93 (+23), a stroke less than her 94 (+24) in the opening round. She placed 80th overall.
Oklahoma Baptist will have a week of rest before returning to play as hosts of the OBU Fall Invitational on September 26-27 at the Shawnee Country Club.
