RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The defending Great American Conference champion, Oklahoma Baptist, was picked to finish in third place, league officials announced Tuesday in its yearly preseason poll.
Southwestern Oklahoma State was voted as the favorite after receiving 35 points including receiving five of seven 1st-place votes. Ouachita checked in at second in the poll with the remaining two 1st-place nods.
OBU, which is led by coach
Mike White in his 13th season, is coming off a 2021 season in which it posted a 13-6-1 record and won the GAC Tournament for the second time.
The green and gold return two key defenders in All-GAC performers
Maddison Williams and
Asley Baker as well as offensive threats
Kaylee Swaner and
Katie Fowler.
This year's schedule kicks off in about two weeks when the team ventures to Washburn on Aug. 25.
