SHAWNEE – There were 49 baseball games for Oklahoma Baptist during the spring. In 40 of those contests, the Bison hit at least one homer.
With the Bison bats staying hot on virtually a game-by-game basis, it helped coach
Chris Cox's team break the school's previous single-season home run record. By the end of the 49-game schedule, the green and gold had notched 112 home runs, besting the 2019 team's total of 91.
OBU officially broke ground on a new season-best during an April 19 road game at Central Oklahoma. During the 12-6 victory, the Bison smacked a trio of long shots. All-America catcher
Alex Schroeder provided the go-ahead homer (92) in the eighth inning of that game.
By season's end, Schroeder tallied 21 of the team's homers while
Dan Pruitt led the way with 24. Additionally, three more players attained at least 11:
Jose Parga,
Kade Self and
Isiah Lissade.
