Jones Earns GAC Pitcher of the Week Honors

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Junior Kayleigh Jones has been named the Great American Conference Pitcher of the Week following three outstanding performances at the Hawkins-McGhee Invitational in Arkadelphia. This is the third time Jones has garnered the recognition in her career, as she earned the honor twice in 2021.

Jones struck out 26 batters in 15.0 innings of action last weekend. She allowed three earned runs and seven hits, finishing the three-game stretch with a 1.40 ERA.

In her 7.0 inning outing against Cameron, Jones struck out 12 of the 28 batters she faced, setting a new career-high for strikeouts in a single game. Jones only allowed one run and two hits in the contest. Her previous best came against Fort Hays State in 2021 where she put away 11 in OBU's 3-0 win over the Tigers.

In the following game versus Emporia State, Jones appeared in the final inning to strikeout two and collect the save in the Bison's 7-6 comeback win.

Against Northeastern State, Jones matched her career-high strikeout total, tallying a dozen in 7.0 innings of work. She allowed four hits and two runs, helping to seal the 5-2 win over the Riverhawks.
