EDMOND, Okla. – Oklahoma Baptist sits in sixth place after round one at the Grace Shin Invitational in Edmond, Okla. The Bison charted a 312 (+28) to claim their placing among the nine-team field.
Morgan Becker leads OBU after carding a 73 (+2) in the opening round, good for a tie for fourth. The freshman finished even through the front nine before starting the turn with back-to-back birdies on holes 10 and 11. Becker made par on five of the next seven to chart a two-over 36 on the backstretch.
Next was Lindyn Ross, who shot a seven-over 78 to land in a tie for 23rd. Ross' inaugural round saw two birdies and was highlighted by a one-over finish on the front nine.
Josie Patterson sunk one birdie en route to a first-round 80 (+9), tying at 33rd overall. Behind Patterson were Karlee Holcomb and Valentina Nunez-Butzonitch, who turned in scores of 81 (+10) and 82 (+11). Nunez-Butzonitch's three-over finish on the back nine tied for a team-best.
Rylei Gunter and Sam Lehr rounded out the Bison bunch in ties for 46th and 49th. Gunter carded a 86 (+14), while Lehr shot an 86 (+15).
OBU returns tomorrow for the final round of play at the Grace Shin Invitational.
