Bison Tied For 10th After Round One

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – The Oklahoma Baptist women's golf team is tied for 10th place following round one at the Central Region Fall Preview, as the squad fired a 317 (+29) over the first 18 holes. In their season-opening match, the Bison sit tied with Missouri Southern State, and trail GAC affiliates Henderson State (1), Arkansas Tech (2), and Southwestern Oklahoma State (T-6).

Hayden Meiser and Valentina Nunez-Butzonitch each led the Bison with a matching first-round score of 77 (+5). Nunez-Butzonitch turned in a team-leading four birdies, with two coming consecutively through on holes 15 and 16. The Huzaingo, Argentina, native hung at the top of the rankings through her first five holes but fell out of her groove as she fired five-over in the last four holes of the first nine.

Meiser made one birdie, while recording level par scores on the fourth, eighth, 12th, and 17th holes.

Senior Josie Patterson posted two birdies, second-best on the team, while making par on eight holes, finishing at 79 (+7).

Finishing off the Bison lineup were Lindyn Ross and Karlee Holcomb, who posted scores of 84 (+12) and 88 (+16) in round one, respectively.

The OBU women will return tomorrow for the concluding round of the event.
