BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – The Oklahoma Baptist women's golf team wrapped up the first round of the 22nd annual NSU Women's Golf Classic tied for sixth place on Monday afternoon. OBU posted a team score of 305 in the first round, shooting 17-over.
The Bison recorded nine birdies as a squad, on their way to having three players finish within the top 20. Senior
Hayden Meiser led the Bison charge after shooting 75, just three strokes over par.
Valentina Nunez-Butzonitch and
Lindyn Ross each find themselves tied at 20
th place with complimentary scores of 76. Nunez-Butzonitch's first-round run included three birdies, while Ross collected a couple birdies of her own.
Freshman
Karlee Holcomb carded a 78 in an outing that involved three birdies. Rounding off OBU's lineup was
Josie Patterson and
Izzy Lette, who played as an individual. Patterson posted a 79, including one birdie, landing her at 46
th, while Lette finished the day at 85 and tied for 80
th
The OBU women will return tomorrow for the concluding round of the event.
