SHAWNEE – The Oklahoma Baptist women's tennis team earned a home win over Cowley County Community College, 5-2, on Tuesday afternoon at the OBU Tennis Courts.
The Bison earned a pair of 6-4 wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to clinch the point.
Vera Anagrova and
Gabrielly Lamas evened the match at No. 2 doubles after OBU dropped a match at Court 3 while
Jenna Noel and
Lin Xin Tan clinched the point at No. 1 doubles.
On the singles side, Anagrova earned a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles while Noel took a 7-6 (2), 6-3 win at No. 2 singles to give OBU a 3-0 lead. After the Tigers got a point back, Lamas clinched the match with a 6-7 (7), 6-4, 7-6 (4) win at No. 3 singles.
Tan added another point to the final tally as she earned a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles.
OBU fell 5-2 on the men's side with
Kyler Melton earning 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles while
Aaron Brewer took a thrilling 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles.
The Bison are back in action on Friday as the men welcome in Texas A&M – Texarkana and the women take on Arkansas Tech. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
