HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – The Oklahoma Baptist women's golf team opened the 2021 Great American Conference Championship Tournament on Monday, playing 36 holes. After the first two rounds, OBU sits in a tie for fifth with Arkansas Monticello, both carding a score of 639 (+63).
Elly Baze is the top individual golfer for the Bison, posting a two-round total of 154 (+10). She shot a first round total of 80 (+8) but then improved in the second round, concluding with a 74 (+2), which was a six-stroke improvement. Baze is currently in a tie for 13
th with Alicia Martinez of Harding.
Hayden Meiser is the second individual finisher for the Bison, finishing a two-round total of 160 (+16). She improved her first-round score of 81 by two strokes and is in a three-way tie for 23
rd place.
Other finishes for OBU include Josie Phillips (+19),
Shelby Phillips (+20), and
Michelle Carr (+24).
Karen Lee of Henderson State and Katie Whitfield of Arkansas Tech sit atop the individual leaderboard, both carding a two-round total of 142 (-2). Arkansas Tech, as a team, currently holds the top spot, finishing the first day with a total of 589 (+13).
The third and final round of the GAC Championship is set for Tuesday, April 20, with the first group teeing off at 8 a.m.
