DURANT, Okla. – The Oklahoma Baptist men's tennis team put together a great showing on Tuesday afternoon, but ultimately fell to Dallas Baptist, narrowly dropping a 4-3 decision on the campus of Southeastern Oklahoma State.
The Bison took the early lead by taking the doubles point as
Aaron Brewer and
Kaey-Den Tan earned a 7-5 victory at No. 1 doubles while
Rhett Rollins and
Matthew Ford earned a 7-6 (6) victory at No. 2 doubles.
Despite a valiant effort by Tan at No. 2 singles, falling 1-6, 6-1, 3-6, OBU dropped the next three points in singles play to fall behind 3-1. Brewer rallied the Bison with a thrilling 7-6 (3), 2-6, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles to give OBU a chance for the win.
However, DBU clinched the match at No. 5 singles despite
Kyler Melton earning a 6-3, 6-7 (11), 1-0 (7) win at No. 6 singles.
The women would fall 4-0 in their match-up with the Patriots. Both
Lin Xin Tan and
Jenna Noel took their matches to three sets, but ultimately fell in tight contests.
The Bison return to action on Thursday back in Durant as they face off with Southeastern Oklahoma State. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
