SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – After a tough start in doubles for the Oklahoma Baptist tennis teams, both the men and women tried to piece together a rally in the singles set. However, both teams would fall just short to Newman on Saturday night by the score of 4-3 in the women's match and 6-1 in the men's match.
On the women's front, OBU began its rally with 6-1, 6-4 victory by
Jenna Noel at No. 2 singles.
Lin Xin Tan would follow that up with a thrilling three-set victory at No. 1 singles, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.
Elyce Clark would even the match up at three apiece with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles as the attention would shift to court four, where the Bison took it to a third set, but fell just short of the win, 6-4, 4-6, 6-7 (1).
On the men's side,
Kaey-Den Tan took a victory at No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-1, but the Bison could not get any momentum going to mount a comeback.
Aaron Brewer put together another great effort at No. 1 singles, but fell short, 6-4, 3-6, 3-6.
The Bison will focus their attention to Tuesday afternoon as they open their home season against Tabor (Kan.). First serve is set for 3 p.m.Â
