SHAWNEE – The Oklahoma Baptist tennis teams returned to their home court on Thursday afternoon as they welcomed in Seward County Community College. The Bison women would fall 5-2, while the men took a 7-0 loss at the OBU Tennis Courts.
On the women's side, OBU dropped the doubles point early on despite a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles from
Gabrielly Lamas and
Vera Anagrova.
In singles action, Lamas carried her excellent play from doubles to No. 4 singles as she took a thrilling three-set win, 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 (4). At No. 2 singles,
Lin Xin Tan earned a three-set victory of her own, taking the match 1-6, 6-4, 1-0 (8).
On the men's side, OBU struggled to get anything going as the Saints left Shawnee with the win.
Kaey-Den Tan played a competitive three-setter at No. 2 singles, falling 1-6, 6-4, 1-6, while
Rhett Rollins dropped a tough one at No. 3 singles in three sets, 6-1, 4-6, 1-6.
The Bison will take the weekend off and return to action on Tuesday as they head to Durant to battle Dallas Baptist in a make-up contest. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
