Wright Concludes Season at NCAA Division II Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the fourth consecutive season, diver Cassidy Wright earned a spot in the NCAA Division II Diving Championship qualification round. All divers that meet the regular season qualification score compete to be one of 16 invited to participate in the NCAA Championship prelims. In a change for 2021, the NCAA reduced the field to 16 total divers to advance to the prelims – eight divers for the one-meter dive and eight divers for the three-meter competition.

After six dives in Tuesday's qualification round, Wright compiled a score of 219 in the one-meter, finishing just short of the 230-240 point total necessary to advance to Wednesday's prelims. Her score in the three-meter competition also fell below the point threshold needed to compete in the championship event.

"Cassidy is a perfect representation of what we strive for here at Oklahoma Baptist," said coach Josh Hanson. "We couldn't be more proud of her representing us at the national meet."

Wright, a senior from Lee's Summit, Missouri, turned in a career season, winning both the one-meter and three-meter dive titles at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships where she was named Women's Diver of the Year.
