SHAWNEE - Due to inclement and below freezing weather expected all week in the entire state of Oklahoma, numerous sports among the Oklahoma Baptist athletic department announced cancelations or changes to upcoming contests.
UPDATE (2/17/21): The home opening series for Bison baseball against Henderson State in GAC play has been moved to May 7-8 in Shawnee. The Bison will now return to action on Feb. 26 as they head to Arkadelphia for a three-game series against Ouachita.
Volleyball's match against East Central has been moved from Shawnee to Ada with a 12 p.m. start time on Friday. The March 23 match with ECU will now be in Shawnee at 7 p.m.
UPDATE (2/16/21): Oklahoma Baptist men's and women's basketball's matchup with Southeastern Oklahoma State in Durant has been canceled due to inclement weather following the winter storms in Oklahoma. At this time, it is unknown if the games will be rescheduled.
The Bison will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 20 at home against Northwestern Oklahoma State.
OBU women's soccer has moved its away contest against Harding to Tuesday, March 2 due to winter weather that has moved into the Arkansas area. OBU will take on Southern Nazarene at home on Friday, Feb. 26 at 5:30 p.m.
UPDATE (2/15/21): Oklahoma Baptist volleyball's matchup with East Central has been moved from Tuesday evening to Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. OBU's match against Arkansas-Fort Smith is still in question with the addition of the match against the Tigers.
Bison women's soccer's match against Southwestern Christian has been canceled. OBU will look to add replacement matches later in the season. Their next match will be on Friday, Feb. 19 against Harding in Searcy.
OBU tennis saw their home opener against Southwestern College (Kan.) canceled due to the inclement weather in the state. The Bison will look to add matches later on in the season and return to action on Friday against Drury.
UPDATE (2/10/21): Oklahoma Baptist volleyball's matchup with Southwestern Oklahoma State in Weatherford has been postponed due to dangerous travel conditions during the winter storm. The Bison and Bulldogs will make up their contest at a later date. OBU is still scheduled to take on Northwestern Oklahoma State on Friday at 12:30 p.m.
UPDATE (2/9/21): The OBU baseball team was slated to head to Central Oklahoma for the Edmond First Pitch Classic, but the contests against Emporia State on Friday, Pittsburg State on Saturday, and UCO on Monday were all canceled due to below freezing temperatures. The Bison will explore the option of adding games later in the season to make up for the three games lost.Â
OBU's next contest will be on Friday, Feb. 19 in its home opener against Henderson State at 4 p.m.Â
The Bison softball team was set to open its season at the OC/UCO Festival, but week two of the annual softball invitational was called off due to the inclement weather. OBU has already added a pair of games for Tuesday, March 16, against Fort Hays State and Cameron in a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m., and will look at the option of adding more games later in the season.
OBU will now open the season on Friday, Feb. 19 during week three of the OC/UCO Festival against Nebraska-Kearney at 12:30 p.m. and Northeastern State at 5:30 p.m.
The Bison tennis programs saw their match ups wiped out as the women's team will no longer take on DBU and Angelo State, while the men lose contests against DBU and Texas-Tyler. The OBU men will still battle SMU on Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. in Dallas. Additionally, all March matches in Florida have been canceled.
The tennis programs will open their home season on Tuesday, Feb. 16 against Southwestern (Kan.).
Last week, the Bison women's soccer program announced the cancelation of their match up against Southwest Baptist. They will return home on Feb. 16 against Southwestern Christian at 6 p.m.
