SHAWNEE – The Oklahoma Baptist baseball season is just eight weeks away. On Thursday, OBU coach
Chris Cox released his program's 2022 schedule, one that features 49 regular-season games.
Sixteen of those contests are non-conference affairs while the other 33 are slotted as Great American Conference games.
Competition begins the first weekend of February. OBU will make a quick trip to compete at Central Oklahoma's 1st Pitch Invitational. Between Feb. 4-6, the green and gold will play UCO, Pittsburg State and Emporia State.
Following a date at Missouri Southern on Feb. 8, the Bison will take part in another weekend tournament, this one Northwestern Oklahoma State's Ranger Festival. From the 11
th to the 13
th, OBU will face Washburn twice and play New Mexico Highlands.
Conference play opens after that. The weekend of Feb. 18-19, OBU travels for three games to Henderson State in Arkadelphia. That'll be followed up a weekend later with the team's first home games.
On Feb. 25-26, Ouachita will pay a visit to Shawnee for another three-game series. Over the remainder of the regular season, Bison fans will have five more chances to see the team host GAC schools for three-game affairs.
Those are: Southwestern Oklahoma State (March 4-5); Arkansas Tech (March 25-26); Northwestern (April 8-9); Southern Arkansas (April 15-16); Southern Nazarene (April 29-30).
Conference road game series include East Central on March 11-12, Harding a week later and Southeastern Oklahoma State on April 1-2. The Bison's final road swing comes at Arkansas-Monticello on April 22-23.
Upon completion of the regular season, the GAC Tournament will take place between May 7-10 at Majestic Park in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
