BROKEN ARROW, Okla. - Oklahoma Baptist golfers
Hayden Meiser and
Josie Patterson both advanced at the Oklahoma Golf Association State Amateur Championship at the Golf Club of Oklahoma.
Meiser advanced all the way to the quarterfinals slated for tomorrow morning after defeating the No. 4 seed Taylor Towers in match play on the 19th hole after draining a 30 foot putt for the win before taking the win over 13-seed Rebecca Davis 4 and 3. Meiser entered at No. 29 in the match play tournament.
Patterson rolled to a win over 15-seed Sara Armstrong, 6 and 4, before falling to the No. 2 seeded Faith Hopkins in a close match, 2 and 1. Patterson entered the event as the No. 18 seed.
The two qualified for the event with impressive scores in the qualifying round. Patterson tied for second after shooting a 80 (+8) while Meiser shot an 83 (+11).
Meiser returns to action tomorrow to take on Hermann in the quarterfinals. If Meiser advances, she will move onto the semifinals later that afternoon.
