SHAWNEE – After splitting its last four matches, the Oklahoma Baptist women's tennis team finds itself at 4-4 and 3-2 at home. Challenging that home record will be Northeastern St. when they come to Bison Hill Friday, March 6 at 1 p.m.
This will be the fourth year in a row the two programs have played each other, with 2018's meeting coming in the second round of the NCAA Central Region postseason tournament. The RiverHawks are 3-1 all time against OBU.
Headlines for this match will look no further than the head-to-head against the Bison's All-American No. 9
Kim Moosbacher and the RiverHawks' No. 3 Tatjana Stoll. Moosbacher is 1-0 against nationally ranked singles players this year while Stoll is 2-1. Stoll's one loss came to Angelo State's No. 25 Valentina Gonzalez, whom Moosbacher defeated earlier this year 6-3, 7-6, 6-4.
Last year's regular season match between Moosbacher and Stoll went the distance as Moosbacher came out victorious, 6-4, 4-6, 7-5. Both girls are 7-1 in singles play this season. Something will have to give.
Outside of the top-10 matchup,
Tahlia Walsh for the Bison is 4-4 on the season and
Hanna Zubkova is 5-2. The doubles team of
Melody Holcomb and
Jenna Noel is 4-2. Both Zubkova and Noel had to sit out the last match due to injury.
Northeastern comes into Bison Hill with the same record as OBU. Northeastern is coming off a 5-2 loss to No. 14 Angelo St. OBU lost to Angelo St. by the same score.
