OBU Hosts Third Conference Match Against Emporia State

SHAWNEE – The 4-5 Oklahoma Baptist men's tennis team finishes off its four-match home stand Thursday, March 12, at 3 p.m. with conference foe Emporia State. OBU is 1-1 in conference play with a win against Newman and a loss to Northwest Missouri State.
 
Emporia State is 3-2 on the season and 0-1 in conference after losing to Harding, 7-0. The Hornets have won three of their last four matches by a combined score of 18-10, including the shutout loss to Harding. ESU's match against OBU will be on the back end of a back-to-back as they will face conference opponent Southern Arkansas on Wednesday.
 
OBU has won the two other meetings between the two programs, with 2017 being the last contest. The Bison won both matches by a combined score of 15-3.
 
Sophomore Rhett Rollins was named the MIAA Athlete of the Week this week thanks to a doubles victory and a singles victory over Division I North Dakota. The Tulsa native has won two of this last three singles matches, and is also 3-1 in doubles matches with partner Andres Graterol
 
Since opening the season with Division I opponents SMU and UT-Arlington, freshman Aaron Brewer has seen a 5-2 record in singles, including a straight-set win against North Dakota's Edmond Aynedjian. Due to injuries, Brewer has seen time anywhere from the No. 3 slot to the No. 5 slot.
