SHAWNEE – Less than a week out from defeating No. 15 Midwestern St., the 2-2 Oklahoma Baptist men's tennis team will take on its second Division II top-20 team in No. 20 Drury University on Friday, Feb. 21 at 8 p.m.
Following the match against Drury, OBU will face its first test as a member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association when it faces Newman University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Both matches will be played at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Missouri.
This will be the seventh year in a row Drury and OBU have met. The Bison have never beaten the Panthers, including last year's 5-2 Drury win. The Panthers are currently 4-0 while sporting a 10-match regular season win streak dating back to last season.
Moving into MIAA play, 2017 was the last time OBU faced Newman. OBU was able to defeat the Jets 6-3 with current Bison
Gianlucca Galdi and Le Fort seeing singles victories that day. Newman is currently 1-0-1 on the 2020 season (4-1-1 overall).
Senior
Matias Le Fort comes into the back-to-back boasting a 3-1 singles record for the Bison, along with freshman
Aaron Brewer and his 2-2 singles record, with both losses coming at the hands of Division I opponents to open the season.
