SHAWNEE – Ahead of the Oklahoma Baptist men's tennis team's second home match of the season, OBU will look to build off an impressive 7-0 performance in its home opener against Texas A&M-Texarkana.
"This team did a better job than I've ever seen of vocally encouraging and cheering each other on," Said Head Coach
Jason Proctor. "We were also more ready than we usually are at the start of the match. Doubles is so fast paced that often the result comes down to who began the match sharper.
The Bison will welcome their second opponent to the OKC area in the Midwestern State Mustangs on Friday, Feb. 14 at 6:00 p.m. in Norman at the University of Oklahoma.
When these two programs met last year, the Bison found themselves on the wrong end of a 7-0 final. OBU is 0-3 against MSU, with their last appearance on Bison Hill favoring the Mustangs 7-2 back in 2017. Two of those Bison victories came from now current OBU seniors
Gianlucca Galdi and
Matias Le Fort.
Le Fort leads the way for the Bison this year in singles with a 2-1 record, including a victory over Division I athlete Juan Jose Bianchi of SMU to open the season.

Jason Proctor pointed to what his team must do well in order to do something OBU men's tennis has never done:
"The match is going to come down to execution and sense of belonging," said Proctor. "It's all about who can play better in the important moments. If we know belong, we will be able to execute under pressure."
