Mia Moddelmog comes to OBU this year from UT-Martin and is ready for the spring as the Bison are set to get their 2021 season rolling. We caught up with Mia in the fifth edition of Bison Profile.
What other institutions recruited you out of high school or junior college and why did you choose OBU?
"University of Tennessee at Martin, Colorado State, Trevecca Nazarene, and Metro State in Denver. I chose OBU because I loved the family atmosphere and the winning culture. I want to win a championship and I think that's something we can do here at OBU!"
Describe your love for the sport of softball.
"My love for softball began as a little girl as I watched my dad coach college baseball. I knew girls couldn't play baseball so I played softball and it's something I've been able to do with my dad since I can remember. It's our special bond."
What is your favorite memory from playing softball?
"In my junior year of high school, I hit a grand slam to tie our semi final game to take us to the state championship."
Who has been the biggest influence in your life?
"I would say my parents. They have taught me everything I know and have got me to where I am today. They taught me to work hard and never settle."
Who is your all-time favorite athlete and why?
"My favorite athlete of all time would easily be Peyton Manning. I'm from Colorado and Tennessee so I easily became a Peyton Manning fan. I love his presence on the field and how he leads."
What's your favorite pre-game meal?
"I don't really have one, but sometimes Chick-Fil-A!"
What is your spirit animal and why?
"My spirit animal would probably be a flamingo because they're fun and outgoing, but also do their own thing."
What is your favorite pump up song?
"Project Dreams by Marshmello and Roddy Ricch"
