Rhett Rollins of Connections Academy in Tulsa is ready for another season with the Oklahoma Baptist men's tennis team this upcoming spring. We caught up with Rhett in the third edition of Bison Profile.
What other institutions recruited you out of high school or junior college and why did you choose OBU?
"I was considering being a walk on to LSU or OU because my brother was also considering playing tennis at those schools. However, OBU I felt was the best place for me to develop as a player and as a person."
Describe your love for the sport of tennis.
"Tennis has a huge impact on my life and has given me so many different opportunities. I has allowed me to have so many different experiences and meet so many different people. I would not be the person I am today without tennis and I am extremely thankful for the opportunity to play every day."
What is your favorite memory from playing tennis?
"My favorite memory of competing at OBU was winning my match against Southeastern Oklahoma State in a conference match my freshman year."
Who has been the biggest influence in your life?
"Trent Tucker was the founder of my academy back home and he had a huge influence on my tennis and my life. I am extremely thankful to have been able to have been coached and mentored by him."
Who is your all-time favorite athlete and why?
"My favorite athlete is Tom Brady because he is the ultimate competitor and has had huge success despite not being the best quarterback coming out of college."
What's your favorite pre-game meal?
"A sandwich or a banana, something simple."
What is your spirit animal and why?
"My spirit animal is a tiger because they are smart and disciplined in how they operate."
What is your favorite pump up song?
"Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Tthe guitar solo near the end of the song is my favorite part."
