What other institutions recruited you out of high school or junior college and why did you choose OBU?
"I was recruited out of high school by a couple junior colleges, one being Butler Community College. Out of junior college, the only school I was really interested in was OBU. I chose OBU because it felt like Coach (Sam) Maples and Coach (Kyle) Webb really build on a family bond between the team and I think that is very important."
Describe your love for the sport of softball.
"The way I would describe my love for softball would be like taking a deep breath. When someone takes a deep breath, they're able to relax and release everything they are carrying on their shoulders. Softball gives me that same feeling. When I step on the field with my team I know anything is possible and I can finally breathe again."
What is your favorite memory from playing softball?
"My favorite memory from my career in softball would have to be in 12U when we won the world series. The feeling of excitement to the point of standing on my tip toes while wanting to win so badly and doing everything in my power to help my team win."
Who has been the biggest influence in your life?
"The biggest influence in my life would have to a friend of mine from daycare. Her name was Clayborne and she had Down syndrome. At such a young age, I was able to recognize the challenges she faced, but also how she created her own adaption to what we see as our normal life. It drove me to have a passion for special education as well as to never stop just because I have a challenge in front of me."
Who is your all-time favorite athlete and why?
"My all time favorite athlete would have to Lauren Chamberlain. I love everything about the way she carries herself and how she never let a slump stop her from succeeding. She became my favorite athlete after her softball career was over especially how she used her position with young female athletes to instill confidence in them. She has been an advocate for woman of all ages to love their bodies no matter how skinny or curvy."
What's your favorite pre-game meal?
"My pre-game meal is always breakfast. I can't do anything without breakfast! Right before a game I normally have some type of candy and gum which is always a must before and during a game."
What is your spirit animal and why?
"I would say my spirit animal is half lion and half monkey because I am loud as well as very protective over people I care about. I also have crazy, wild energy which sometimes catches people's attention."
What is your favorite pump up song?
"My favorite pump up song would have to be Let Me Clear My Throat by DJ Kool."
