SHAWNEE – With the release of the GAC All-Decade Team, three Oklahoma Baptist players found themselves on the list –
Kateryna Shkot,
Kim Moosbacher and Kevin Andrusch. Both Shkot and Andrusch are OBU alumni, while Moosbacher is finishing her senior season on Bison Hill.
Â
Moosbacher first put people on notice as a freshman, helping lead OBU to the NCCAA national title. During OBU's 2018-2019 season, she earned All-American status by finishing the season in the top 20 of the Oracle/ITA singles rankings, and top 10 in the final Oracle/ITA doubles rankings. She was also named the GAC Player of the Year. In the same year, Moosbacher and Shkot earned All-America status as doubles partners.
Â
During the fall season of her senior year, Moosbacher did not drop a single set in four events, sweeping her way through the Tiger-Jinx Tournament, the Midwestern State Tournament, the GAC Tournament and ITA Regionals. She enters the spring season No. 4 in the nation among all Division II players.
Â
Andrusch was the GAC Player of the Year award as a freshman during the the 2016-2017 season. That same year, he led the OBU men's team to the program's first national championship, capturing the NCCAA crown and earning the tournament's Outstanding Player Award. Andrusch also pulled in First Team NCCAA All-American honors, finishing the season with a 21-3 record in singles, including an 18-2 mark at No. 1.
Â
"
Kim Moosbacher and Kevin Andrusch are two players who have had a significant impact on OBU tennis," said Head Coach
Jason Proctor. "Kim treats her teammates well and that has caused them to look up to her. Her purpose of serving and loving them well has driven her to new heights in her own game. Kevin is a perfectionist by nature. His standards for himself are extremely high and he desperately wants to be the best."
Â
Shkot, playing most of her career as part of the NAIA and then the NCCAA, captured honors including ITA NAIA All-America in singles and doubles in 2014 and 2015, First Team NAIA All-America in 2014, and NCCAA All-America in 2016.
Â
Shkot won the GAC Player of the Year award the year prior to Moosbacher winning the award. During Shkot's POY campaign, she went 12-3 in singles, including 5-0 at No. 1 singles. She also posted 12 doubles wins with the majority of them coming paired with Moosbacher in the No. 1 slot as the tandem went 11-2.
Â
"It comes as no surprise to me that Kateryna was named to the All-Decade team," said former OBU head coach Nick Papac, now an assistant coach at the University of Oklahoma. "She will be known as one of the most talented and decorated student-athletes to ever compete for OBU. She had this great ability on the court to focus and execute in the biggest moments. It was an honor to be able to coach her in her senior year."
