RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The awards keep coming in for defensive specialist
Diana Carranza following her Bison debut this past weekend at the Loper Pre-Season Invite as the junior was named the Great American Conference Defensive Player of the Week. The weekly honor was announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Carranza, hailing from Lima, Peru, averaged 5.07 digs/set in 17 sets. She posted 17 or more digs in each match last week, including a 33-dig performance against No. 11 Nebraska-Kearney. Also against UNK, Carranza posted a double-double by adding 11 assists. She also finished with eight service aces, including five against Adams State in a 3-1 win.
Earlier on Monday, Carranza was named to the Loper Pre-Season Invite All-Tournament team.
The Bison are back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 11 for a 7 p.m. tilt against Central Oklahoma in Edmond.
