SHAWNEE – With the nonconference slate now complete, Oklahoma Baptist women's soccer is set to open up the Great American Conference schedule on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 12 p.m. when the Bison host rival Southern Nazarene at the OBU Soccer Complex.
Oklahoma Baptist enters Saturday's contest riding a 12-match winning streak in conference play, as well as a 25-match unbeaten streak against GAC foes. The Bison haven't dropped a conference match since Oct. 27, 2017.
The Bison closed out the nonconference schedule with a 2-3-1 record, though the team went 2-2-1 against Division II competition.
Averaging 21.2 shots/match, the Bison leads in the GAC in the category, while
Tori Kitchel leads all players with 6.0 shots/match; however, OBU will look to grow more efficient with their chances heading into league play as they are converting just 5.5 percent of their shots into goals.
Reagan Mann currently leads OBU with three goals, all from the penalty spot, and is tied for third in the GAC in the category.
Defensively, OBU's defense is the stingiest on a per-match basis, allowing just 1.3 goals/match behind the defensive front of
Kelsey Bumgarner, Hanna Evans,
Keely Hampton, and
Lara Haring-Lovett.
Emily Griffith leads the GAC in goals-against average among goalkeepers that have played at least five matches with a 1.29 mark, and also ranks third in saves with 25 to go along with a .758 save percentage.
Southern Nazarene also enters Saturday's contest with a 2-3-1 record with wins over Missouri Southern State and Oklahoma Christian. The Crimson Storm has produced the same number of goals through six matches as the Bison with seven, led by Sydney Davenport and Karsyn Matthews with two apiece. Southern Nazarene owns a minus-1.16 goal differential, though Ashlynn Pritchett leads the GAC with a .66 GAA and .931 save percentage after making four appearances this season.
