SHAWNEE – The Bison are headed to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, as the No. 8 seed in the 2019 NCAA Central I Regional. OBU will take on top-seeded and defending national champion Augustana on Thursday, May 16.
Â
An automatic qualifier as the Great American Conference champion, this year's bid makes back-to-back NCAA berths for Coach
Bobby Cox's squad. The Bison earned an at-large bid in 2018 in their first year of NCAA postseason eligibility following OBU's successful completion of the Division II candidacy process.
Â
"Augustana is a tremendous program, obviously," said Cox. "To travel up there and face them on their home field is going to be a tremendous challenge. But to be the best, you've got to beat the best, and I think our guys will be really excited about the challenge ahead and we'll show up."

Â
OBU enters this year's tournament as one of the nation's hottest teams after sweeping to victory at the GAC Tournament to extend its winning streak to 13.
Â
En route to their first GAC title, the Bison outscored their opponents 39-15, batting .368 as a team and hammering seven home runs to go along with 11 doubles. The OBU pitching staff held tournament opponents to a .241 average and allowed just five extra base hits in four contests.
Â
Regional champions will advance to the Super Regional round to determine which eight teams will play for the 2019 NCAA Division II title beginning June 1 in Cary, North Carolina.
