SHAWNEE – Playing its first home match since March 1, Oklahoma Baptist took on Cameron at the OBU tennis complex Tuesday afternoon. The Bison fell 5-2, while the OBU women were edged, 4-3, in their first home match of the season.
The home crowd was treated to competitive doubles play. Oklahoma Baptist got wins at number two with Andres Graterol/
Matias Le Fort for the men and at number three with
Tahlia Walsh/
Stefy Varon for the ladies. It was Walsh's and Varon's first true win as doubles partners on the season.
The Bison picked up singles victories at number two and number four as
Gianlucca Galdi won 6-1, 7-5 and Le Fort won after dropping his first set, 5-7, 7-5, 11-9.
Singles got off to a challenging start for the ladies as numbers 1-4 dropped their first set.
Kim Moosbacher and Walsh at number one and three were able to extend their matches to a third set with
Alex Bowers recovering from her game in the first set to come back and win in three.
Madeleine Boepple won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3, while
Jacqueline Charvat claimed her first singles victory of the season.
Oklahoma Baptist will face John Brown on Thursday in a match that was rescheduled from earlier this season. OBU will play their second conference match of the season Friday against Ouachita Baptist.
