Men Set to Face Washburn in Tennis Matchup

SHAWNEE --  The Oklahoma Baptist Bison men's tennis team takes the short trip to  Oklahoma City to face the Washburn Ichabods Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center. This is the third year in a row the Bison have met the Washburn at this neutral site. Oklahoma Baptist enters at 0-1. Washburn comes into the meeting with a 2-1 record.

Oklahoma Baptist has lost each of the last two meetings with Washburn. Current OBU players Gianlucca Galdi and Matias Le Fort claimed a doubles victory last year against Washburn. Galdi also captured one of the two singles victories for OBU last year.

Many of the same faces return for Washburn with them having only lost two guys from last year, while picking up three junior college transfers. Team leader Alejandro Valarezo Plaza returns for Washburn. Last year, Plaza, along with Blake Hunter, defeated OBU's No. 1 doubles team as well as Plaza getting the win at No. 1 singles.

Washburn will look to replace Blake Hunter this year, who was Plaza's doubles partner when they won the 2017-2018 ITA Central Regional Championships.
