OKLAHOMA CITY - With three tournaments already down for OBU, the Bison took on their fourth test as this was the third straight weekend they saw action. The 2019 ITA Regional Championships in OKC featured 64 female and male players, and OBU made sure everyone knew their players' names in each draw.
Six Bison men who appeared in the singles main draw, which were all of the Bison to make an appearance, found opening round wins on day one.
Bruno Suiama found two wins as he awaited the quarterfinals on day two, winning his first two matches in straight sets. Leaving day two, the JUCO transfer was the sole male to earn a bid to the semifinals. A tough three-setter found Suiama on the wrong side as he came up just short in a 12-10 third set tiebreaker.
Kim Moosbacher for the Bison once again stood out among the rest. Entering the tournament as the No. 2 seed, she breezed through her first two matches on day one 6-0, 6-1 and 6-2, 6-2, respectively. Moosbacher would go on to claim her main draw Regional title with a 6-4, 6-1 win in the semis and an even more dominant performance in the finals, 6-3, 6-1.
Moosbacher also made some noise in doubles with partner
Ethne Dowling. The duo won their first two matches before falling on day two in the quarterfinals.
One more tournament remains for Oklahoma Baptist this fall season in the Collin CC Fall Open in McKinney, Texas, October 11-12. Moosbacher will look for a clean sweep of the fall season this weekend, having won in OBU's first four tournaments.
