OBU Places 50th in Learfield Cup Standings

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist finished its first season of NCAA eligibility as the No. 50 athletic program in Division II, according to the 2017-18 Learfield Directors' Cup Standings.
 
OBU finished with 349 points, which was far and away the best score among Great American Conference schools.
 
OBU had 121.5 points in the spring, including 50 points from women's tennis, 29 points from women's golf, 25 points from the baseball team and 17.5 points from women's outdoor track and field.
 

 
Scoring 173.5 points in the winter sports, OBU got contributions of 75 points each from men's and women's swimming and diving and 23.5 points from women's indoor track and field.
 
The Lady Bison cross country team was the highest-scoring team with 54 points for their 20th-place finish in the fall, registering 54 points in the Learfield Cup standings.
 
Following OBU's 349 points were No. 91 Arkansas Tech at 226.5, No. 111 Harding at 179, No. 114 Southwestern Oklahoma State at 168.5, No. 138 Henderson State at 148.75, No. 141 Southern Arkansas at 147, No. 163 Southeastern Oklahoma State at 117.5, No. 203 Ouachita Baptist at 78 and No. 251 Southern Nazarene at 25.
 
There were 268 scoring teams in the Division II standings, led by California Baptist at 905.
 
OBU was eligible for NCAA postseason for the first time this season and had won five consecutive postseason honors for overall athletic program. After winning the Learfield Directors' Cup its final three years in the NAIA, OBU won back-to-back NCCAA Presidential Awards.
