LEWISVILLE, Texas – Oklahoma Baptist got a meet record and placed third in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Meet, which concluded a four-day run Saturday night.
OBU won the 400 free relay in a meet record 3:24.37 by
Marizel Van Jaarsveld,
Celina Marquez,
Victoria Fonville and
Tammy Price. It was a B standard national qualifying time.
Julie Day,
Miriam Avila,
Jamie Edwards and Maddie Carson placed 12
th at 3:33.64.
Marquez won a 1-2-3 OBU finish in the 200 backstroke in 1:58.14.
Suzanne Afchain was second at 2:00.64 and Price took third at 2:02.46. All three had B standards.
Faith Moss (11
th, 2:04.56) and Meile Hall (15
th, 2:10.26) also scored in the event.
Juliana Cifuentes won the 200 breaststroke in a B time 2:18.84 with Avila also meeting the B standard in third at 2:20.03.
Leslie White also scored in the event at 11
th in 2:24.71.
Van Jaarsveld placed second in the 100 free at 52.32 with Fonville sixth at 51.77 and Day 12
th at 52.92. Van Jaarsveld and Fonville had B standard times.
Jocelyn Martinez scored from 14
th in the 1650 at 18:36.83.
California Baptist won the meet at 839, followed by Colorado Mesa at 837.5, OBU at 775, Colorado School of Mines at 360, Western State at 317.5, Colorado State-Pueblo at 137, Adams State at 134, and Oklahoma Christian and Nebraska-Kearney tied at 95.
OBU will participate in one more qualifying meet – the Mizzou NCAA Qualifier, in Columbia, Missouri Friday.
