SHAWNEE – The Lady Bison play their first Great American Conference match at the OBU Soccer Complex when they play host to the East Central Tigers on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 11 a.m.
Oklahoma Baptist (7-1, 3-0 GAC) currently sits atop the GAC standings as the only unblemished record in the league. The Lady Bison's offense has been the most active in the GAC, averaging 2.38 goals and 21.6 shots through eight outings.
Ruth King and
Hannah White have accounted for nearly half of OBU's goals, with King tallying a team-high five scores and White finding the back of the net four times. King is also tied for the GAC lead with four assists.
Defensively, OBU has been as stout as any team in the GAC. With two clean sheets Griffith is tied with her ECU counterpart, Chloe Hull, for the conference lead. A stifling back line has contributed to Griffith's success as opponents have managed a miniscule 8.2 shots.
East Central (4-3-1, 1-0-1 GAC) is unbeaten in their last five outings, including four wins. East Central is tied for the league lead in goals scored this year (20), though 13 of those came against a hapless Randall side that's given up 67 total goals to Division II and NAIA competition this month. Kay Woodring leads the squad with three goals this season.
In goal for ECU, Hull has a league-best .99 GAA and .854 save percentage. The Tigers' defense has given up an average of 16.2 shots per game, but only 40.8 percent of those shots have been put on frame.
