Women’s Soccer Voted Third in Preseason Poll

SHAWNEE – Lady Bison Women's Soccer were picked to finish third in the Great American Conference in 2017. The results of the preseason coaches' poll were released by the league office Tuesday afternoon.

Oklahoma Baptist will enter the 2017 season as full members of the NCAA, meaning OBU will be eligible for GAC and NCAA postseason play for the first time.

The Lady Bison, who finished tied for third in the GAC last season with a 7-4-1 mark in league play and an overall record of 15-6-1, received 26 points in the 2017 edition of the preseason poll. Coaches were unable to vote for their own team.

Southwestern Oklahoma State, last year's regular season champion, received four of a possible seven first-place votes, and sits atop the poll with 34 points. Harding received the other three first-place tallies and enters the poll ranked second with 33 points.

Ouachita Baptist (20 points), finished the polling in fourth place, followed by Southern Nazarene (17), East Central (11) and Northwestern Oklahoma State (6).

The Lady Bison will wrap up their preseason tour of Armenia and England this week before welcoming Oklahoma Christian to the OBU Soccer Complex on August 24th for a 6 p.m. exhibition. Oklahoma Baptist opens the 2017 season at home on Thursday, August 31st when they play host to Newman at 5:30 p.m.
