Thompson Strong in Tri-City Debut

SHAWNEE – Former Bison Nathan Thompson got his season off to a good start for the Tri-City ValleyCats (Short Season A, Houston Astros) last week.
 
Thompson struck out seven batters without a walk in 3.2 scoreless innings. He got no decision in the 7-2 loss to the Lowell Spinners.
 
For Bradenton (Pittsburgh, Advanced A) Taylor Hearn threw five hitless and scoreless innings but got no decision in a 5-4 loss to Clearwater. He struck out four and walked four. Hearn is 4-5 with a 4.25 ERA in 14 games this season.
 
Julian Merryweather was charged with his first AAA loss as Columbus (Cleveland Indians affiliate) lost to Toledo. Merryweather pitched into the fourth, striking out four. He is 3-1 with a 4.85 ERA since moving up to AAA. Merryweather for the season is 7-3 with a 3.92 ERA.
 
Matthew Page is hitting .297 with two home runs and eight RBIs through 32 games for Potomac (Washington Nationals Advanced A). He has had hits in each of his last three and six of his last seven games.
 
Carson McPherson is still unscored upon through two outings with the Lincoln Saltdogs (Independent). He recorded two outs, including a strikeout against Winnipeg last week.
