Lady Bison Face Weekend Road Trip

EMPORIA, Kan. – Lady Bison tennis resumes play this weekend in Kansas, taking on Emporia State and Newman University on Friday and Saturday.

Emporia State (6-4, 3-3 MIAA) has dropped notable matches to Central Oklahoma, Harding and Southwest Baptist. Tawni Griffey sits 16th in the central region and holds the only ranking from ESU. The match is set to begin at 1:30p.m. on Friday in Emporia.

Newman (4-11, 0-2 Heartland) holds losses to Midwestern State, Arkansas-Fort Smith- whom OBU swept earlier this season- and the Great American Conference's own Southeastern Oklahoma State. The Jets are currently ranked 8th in the ITA's south-central region, but have no singles or doubles teams ranked. The match is set for Saturday afternoon in Wichita.

No. 18 OBU boasts a 14-2 overall record and will roll into Kansas with a chip on its shoulder after dropping a hard-fought match to No. 15 Midwestern State last weekend. Rouxanne Janse Van Rensburg recently received NCCAA player of the week honors for the second week in a row and a third time on the season. She is ranked 36th nationally in singles play as she and partner Kim Moosbacher sit 12th in doubles. No. 2 doubles player Olivia Charvat is ranked 12th in the central region.
