Bison to Battle Emporia State, Newman

EMPORIA, KAN. – OBU men's tennis travels north this weekend to take on Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association member Emporia State and Heartland Conference competitor Newman University.

ESU (9-2, 2-1 MIAA) sits 10th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's central region rankings, beneath OBU's No. 8. The majority of the Hornets' wins have come over NAIA opponents, having only played three conference matches. Among the MIAA matches is a 5-4 win over No. 29 Nebraska-Kearney and a loss to No. 20 Southwest Baptist. The match is set to begin at 1:30p.m. Friday in Emporia.

NU (8-5, 2-0 Heartland) have recorded losses to the likes of Harding, Central Oklahoma, Midwestern State and Washburn. Edward Dos Santos is ranked 28th nationally and holds two Heartland POTW awards. The match is set to begin Saturday afternoon in Wichita.

The No. 46 Bison head into Friday's matchup 11-5 overall, looking to rebound from last weekend's loss to No. 21 Midwestern State. Gianluca Galdi and Matias Le Fort will tote some hardware along with them after receiving Great American Conference and NCCAA player of the week honors respectively. Galdi is the fourth Bison to receive the GAC award this season, as Le Fort is the third picked by the NCCAA.

OBU is ranked eighth regionally by the ITA, as Kevin Andrusch and Lucas Castelo Branco sit 18th and 20th in singles play. Castelo Branco and Galdi hold a No. 6 ranking in doubles teams.
